Why I'm Dropping Out


       It's not just some story. It's not just some legend that never really happened. None of it was made up. Other aspects of it were true, so this one aspect MUST be true as well.
       Reading White Tigers, the thing that blew my mind most was this fact- the lady jumped over a house. A house. Think about it a second longer. She jumped over a HOUSE. So while I’m sitting on my bum writing this post, she’s jumping over freaking houses. Sure, the fighting was cool and the point of the whole passage was important and impactful, but nothing was as jaw dropping, eye opening, mind blowing, [insert other idioms], as being bequeathed the knowledge that it is possible for a human to jump 20 feet in the air from a standing position. Sure, physics may say otherwise, but those experiments and math equations probably lacked the belief. While scientists were experimenting, they were probably thinking, “Oh, this will never happen but I’m going to try anyways,” so of course it didn’t happen, for their hearts weren’t into it, unlike the warrior woman. Obviously, it must take years to perfect this task, but the end result is so worth it. This is why I choose to temporarily take a break from school. The day I return will be the day the whole school sits gaping in awe as I jump over the building, right over their heads. Hopefully the ceiling will be glass by then so they can see it happen.

    I really appreciate how your blog has continuity and your tone is very similar throughout all of your blogs. This blog post reminds me of your previous one, "The Ignorant Insubordinate", mostly because of your sassiness and rebellious attitude. Keep up these great, entertaining pieces.

    I like that this blog is short. I'm lazy so the shorter the reading the better. I'm also looking forward to seeing you jump over a roof. If you show up to school without this ability mastered, I will be severely disappointed. I will also call James Roday and let him know how much of a disappointment you are. I also appreciate the conversational tone of this blog, it's funny.

    Jenna, This is so good! I've been reading through all of your blog posts, and you have such a nice style of writing. I like your style especially, because you speak from the heart rather than trying to use formal diction to appeal to your audience. I can't wait to read your next post!!!

A Spiel on Time

    The prompt for my in-class essay regarded whether or not college was worth the cost. I used the college-bound mindset of myself and my peers at Troy High as an example in my synthesis, and this whole idea then prompted me to ponder why it is that we spend so much time thinking about our futures.     Don't get me wrong- planning ahead is great. More on "Needs"

In second grade we had a whole 2-hour lesson on the difference between "needs" and "wants." Mrs. Fairweather passed out a sheet with different images, including food, clothes, toys, etc., and by the end of the lesson we had to circle the images representing what we needed in order to prove we could differentiate between what we need and what we want. In second grade we were learning the basic needs- what we need to survive. They taught us that when we are hungry, we need food; when we are thirsty, we need water; if we are cold, we need warmth; when we are tired, we need rest.
